e-ALS
Our most popular course
One day course with e-learning.
​
e-ALS launched in 2012 and covers the same course content as ALS. It involves one day of e-learning, which is done in your own time, before attending a one-day face-to-face course, providing increased flexibility and reducing the need for time away from work.

For those new to UK practice (or with less than 1 year experience in an acute, emergency or clinical care setting within the NHS) attending an ALS Prep course in advance may be beneficial.
ALS (Advanced Life Support)
Two day version of e-ALS course with no e-learning but increased face to face teaching
Two day course.​
​
The Resuscitation Council UK’s two-day ALS course is the perfect way to learn skills in Advanced Life Support. With over 20,000 healthcare professionals trained every year, ALS covers numerous essential skills in resuscitation, including delivery of adult CPR, recognition and management of the deteriorating patient and working in a team during emergency situations.

For those new to UK practice (or with less than 1 year experience in an acute, emergency or clinical care setting within the NHS) attending an ALS Prep course in advance may be beneficial.
ALS Preparation Course
Ideal preparation for ALS/e-ALS
3 hour face to face course.​
This course will give you a better understanding of the expectations of an ALS or e-ALS course. It will cover A to E assessments, basic airway, basic life support and ALS scenarios.
Our instructors deliver small group teaching designed to aid you in preparing for your ALS/e-ALS course to your full potential.

ILS (Immediate Life Support)
Multidisciplinary course which provides the essential knowledge and skills for the initial phase of treating a critically ill patient
One day course.
​
ILS was developed by the Resuscitation Council UK for healthcare professionals who may have to act as the first responder in an emergency, giving them the skills to manage patients in cardiac arrest before a cardiac arrest team arrives.​
​
An ILS course provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes and treating cardiac arrest to improving abilities both as a team member and leader.
PILS (Paediatric Immediate Life Support)
Designed to aid skills in the initial assessment of a sick child
One day course.

Paediatric Immediate Life Support was developed by Resuscitation Council UK for healthcare professionals who may have to manage and treat paediatric patients in an emergency.
PILS provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes of deterioration and treating cardiac arrest in children, to developing team leadership abilities and finding out what it takes to be an effective team member in a cardiac arrest emergency.
BLS (Basic Life Support)
Annual Statutory/Mandatory requirement for healthcare workers.
3 hour face to face course.​

BLS refers to the type of care that first-responders, healthcare providers and other staff provide to anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. The course will develop your knowledge and skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using automated external defibrillators (AED), anaphylaxsis and relieving airway obstructions in patients of every age.
EPALS (European Paediatric Advanced Life Support)
Ideal training for Paediatric nurses, doctors and clinicians
2 day face to face course​
EPALS is an advanced course that trains healthcare professionals in the early recognition of the child in respiratory or circulatory failure and management of a cardiac arrest. EPALS provides the knowledge and skills needed to prevent further deterioration and help to save young lives.
The EPALS course is a collaboration between Resuscitation Council UK and the European Resuscitation Council. It is endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (RCPCH) and approved by the Royal Colleges of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), and Anaesthetics (RCoA), as well as the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists (APAGBI).
GIC (Generic Instructor Course)
Course for candidates who have been put forward as potential instructors.
2 day face to face course.​

The Generic Instructor Course trains future Instructors in the principles of adult learning. These skills can then be used to teach fellow healthcare professionals at a number of our courses, including ALS, EPALS and NLS.
This course is a joint collaboration between Resuscitation Council UK and the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG). Around 900 Instructors are trained on this course every year.
This course consists of a day of e-learning followed by two days of face-to-face attendance, which will take place in a Resuscitation Council UK Course Centre.
Across the two day face-to-face sessions, Candidates will attend a lecture before taking part in practical sessions that cover the teaching modalities required to teach the provider courses. These include approaches to teaching skills acquisition, facilitating simulation, undertaking assessments and providing feedback to candidates.
After successful completion of the GIC, Candidates must teach on two provider courses as an Instructor Candidate (IC) within two years of the GIC in order to complete their training and receive their qualification.
